| Velvet & Copper Brocade Elizabethan Tudor Gown |
|
| This gown took quite a while to complete as there is extensive handwork on this garment.
As you can see, the fold back bell sleeves are decorated with 6mm pearls hand stitched to the satin lining. The purpose was two fold. One, to decorate the vast expanse of satin, and two, to 'catch' it to the velvet to the satin to prevent bagging.
What you cannot see is the beadwork on the copper brocade forepart. The same embellishment decorates the false sleeves. The green on the false sleeves are 11mm silver lined emerald green rocaille beads. Similar detailing also decorates the brocade ribbon trim on the velvet portion of the dress.
A historically correct corset & farthingale was created to complete the ensemble
